A message from Club President, Janet Davis.

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Saco Bay!  Along with our parent club, the Biddeford-Saco Rotary Club, we have been serving the communities of Biddeford, Saco, and Old Orchard Beach for over 20 years.

Our club and international organization has been built on the core values of Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity, and Leadership.  It is my goal that each of these qualities will be evident in every service project or fundraiser we complete.

The International President for Rotary for 2011-2012, Kalyan Banerjee, communicated this year's theme as "Reach within to embrace humanity."  We all want peace and fulfillment in our lives and desire that for others as well.  We must first find peace for ourselves and then work to bring peace to our homes, families, and communities.  Once we have peace in our own lives, we find joy in helping others.

The 1st emphasis this year is the family.  All of our service begins with family.  Then we can carry our work forward into the community and abroad.  The 2nd emphasis is on continuity---finding things that we do best to help others.  Rotary is known for helping to provide safer and cleaner water, helping to rid disease, spreading literacy, and striving for peace.  We must continue forward with these goals.  The 3rd emphasis is change.  We also need to identify the things we need to work on and try to make them better.  We must be the change we wish to see in the world.  We can start locally and then branch out

globally.

The Rotary Club of Saco Bay expands to the UNE Rotaract, Thornton Academy and Old Orchard Beach Interact Clubs.  We desire to keep Rotary relevant in our local community.  Join us on one of our service projects or fund raisers to see "Rotary in action!"

Yours in Service,

Janet Davis, President
