A message from the Club President

Greetings Fellow Rotarians and Friends,
Let me begin by saying that I am honored, humbled, and proud to be serving as the President of The Rotary Club of Saco Bay for the 2008-2009 Rotary year. Our Club does a tremendous job of supporting numerous projects and programs in Saco, Biddeford, and Old Orchard Beach, as well as worthwhile projects and programs around the world. The following list includes just some of those projects and programs.
- Official “Toys for Tots” provider in York County
- Creation and support of the Literacy Program at the County Jail
- Assist with preparation and serving of meals at the Bon Appetite Soup Kitchen
- Award numerous Scholarships to local students
- Support of the local Food Pantry
- Host and Sponsor Students through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program
- Support of Community Bicycle Center
- Support of Biddeford Free Clinic
- Sponsor a Rotaract Club and two (2) Interact Clubs
- Participation in Matching Grant Program for a vocational school to aid the developmentally handicapped in Ecuador
As I mentioned, these are just some of the programs that Saco Bay Rotary is proud to support and be part of. In addition, our goal is to add the following additional projects this year:
- Building of an Earthen Stairway as part of the Saco River Walk Project
- Work with the Salvation Army at Camp Sebago
- Support of youth Nutrition Program in the Philippine Islands
- Public Awareness campaign and Fundraiser for the PolioPlus program
I am excited about the year ahead and looking forward to continuing our club’s and organization’s dedication to “Service Above Self” as we strive, in honor of our International President, D.K. Lee, to “Make Dreams Real.”
Thank you for all that you do,
Dan Colby
