Lobster Bake 2006

On Saturday, August 19th Saco Bay Rotary held its annual Lobster Bake. Curt Scammon donates the use of his property every year for this event. Thanks to Curt! This year, it was a beautiful day- the sun was shining, the birds were chirping and the poison ivy was rampant!

The profit to the club was $2100 this year because  of the high price of the lobster and clams.  The list of provisions for next year's purchases has already been revised. For example, Rotarians will make desserts instead of purchasing them in order to avoid increasing the price of the tickets.  Something new was tried this year as the Cystic Fibrosis society sold tickets and earned themselves $500 for their cause.

We sold 211 tickets in all and most people who bought a ticket attended the party.  There were plenty of people who showed up to set up early in the morning, and a smaller number stayed for the table/chair pickup at the end of the day.

The Rotarian attendance was 31 % but 76% participated in the sale of tickets.  Many who could not attend chose to either give away their tickets or sell them to others.
